AMD has taked about the plan of GPU+CPU since 2006. CPU with a native GPU built into a single die is called Fusion.However,AMD cant release related products in a timely manner.Previous two Fusion versions are also difficult labour.The first verison was cancelled in 2008.The second version also undewent the same fate.AMD recently has released its third version,renamed LIano.

However,its rival Intel will launch  desktop Arrandale at the end of the year,which adopts CPU+GPU design idea.AMD Fusion wants to be a native chip design.Intel has two dies on the same chip.

See above,LIano splits GPU,CPU,HT,cache as well as I/O into independent functional unit module,which forms different configurations according to actual application.

LIano based on 32nm process is scheduled to launch in 2011.We hope AMD wont sit back.

      早在AMD并购ATI的时代，AMD就已经开始谈论CPU+GPU的整合型产品的有关计划，这款产品就是后来被称为Fusion的系统，不过，AMD提出 Fusion的计划后却迟迟未能推出有关的产品，而此前推出的两个版本Fusion均胎死腹中（原计划2008年推出的第一版和原计划2009/2010 推出的第二版），最近他们又推出了Fusion的第三版设计，并且将其改名为LIano。


相比之下，Intel的Arrandale则将于年底上市,这同样是一种核心内部集成CPU+GPU核心的产品,不过与AMD Fusion坚持采用原生设计的思路不同,Intel用于移动平台的Arrandale和桌面平台的Clarkdale则将采用将CPU芯片和GPU芯片两块芯片封装在一起的方式.


LIano将GPU核心,CPU核心,HT接口部件,缓存部件,I/O部件等等拆分为独立的功能单元模块,然后再根据实际应用的需要,将这些功能模块组合在一起形成不同的配置.


LIano计划2011年推出上市，将采用32nm制程进行制造，希望这一次AMD不要再跳票了，否则很容易让人联想到某一家游戏公司的作风。
