Health
Health represents long-term injury or how much damage a character can take before he is maimed or dies. Health is much more difficult to recover then Stamina. It doesn't regenerate on its own and neither items nor spells can bring it back. Only resting can restore Health and restore maimed status. For players, the Health of their party members is a tether that makes them consider how far they are willing to venture from a safe resting spot.
Health loss occurs at the same time as Stamina loss, but at a fraction of the value (typically at a 1:4 ratio). When a character loses all of his or her health, they are not only knocked unconscious, but will receive a Maimed status when revived. Sustaining any damage while maimed will get you killed(in standard play) or simply killed (in Expert Mode or as an option in standard play).
