Thank you for all the questions. Instead of answering each one individually, I will give a general impression of the game based on those questions, you will be playing the demo soon:
Sieges: There are two kinds of siege weapons, catapult to begin with and cannons late on when you have access to gunpowder. Both are immobile. Most units can climb walls, with the exception of cavalry. You troops will take losses when climbing as people fall. You can either burn down the gate or use the capture points inside the walls to take control of the gates. Once you have control of a gate tower, you can let your cavalry inside. There are also arrow towers to capture. To win you need to control the centre keep.
Land battle: There is a new terrain generation system, the maps have lots more hills and forest, and less flat lands than in the previous games. There are buildings on the maps, you cannot put troops inside them like in Napoleon anymore.
Campaign map: The win conditions is to capture a number of regions, including specific regions, with the end goal of taking Kyoto. You have either 25 or 50 years for a shot and long campaign with 4 turns per year. You can choose what religion your clan follows when Christian arrives later on in the campaign. When you capture a region you can choose to claim it, pillage it or turn it into a vassal state. Vassal state control the region, but will give you honour. The control of the regions is similar to Napoleon and Empire, you have fixed slots on the map where you can build. You need to trade goods (like stone) and research technology to build certain buildings. Sometimes you would be present dilemma which have short term affects on your lands, and be presented missions to complete. General only increase in rank if you fight battles, but you can gain honour without fighting. There are no separate weapon and armour advancement for your units, only experience levels.
Multiplayer: First you choose an avatar to represent yourself online. Only very limited of troop would be available to you at this point. As you win battles, you can unlock special ability, extra gear for your general unit and more troop types. We also have built in clan system.
Others: The anti cheat system will only report you if cheating software is running, you can use mods without fear. Shogun 2 fully support duel and quad core CPUs. We have in the past thought about doing a Total War based on Chinese history, and it is something that we would like to do one day. Our fear is that while we can produce a game with enough historical favour to satisfy westerners, but we don't think we can satisfy you guys who take Chinese history very seriously. A map of China, plus named generals would not be enough to make a three kingdoms game without also the story to go with it。
Personal: I am a programmer working on Shogun 2, I came to England from Hong Kong when I was young, I can still read good enough but writing is a problem for me. I am here because the game is finished now, we are working on patches, I have a bit more spare time to engage our fans. CA would like to encourage you to visit sites like "gamespot" to generate more "hits." The more web traffic we get for Total War, the more our games will appear in shops.
Hope you will enjoy the demo that will be released shortly.
