Completing the quest ED-E My Love by giving him to the Followers may result in him teleporting to a location near red rock canyon(shown by quest marker) and then exploding on approach, removing him from the game as a companion.needs verification
It would seem if you bring ED-E into the White Glove Society's kitchen, he will stop moving and just float in place. You can still interact with him, but he will not follow you. This can be avoided by telling him to wait outside the kitchen area and then going back to get him after you're done in there.
When told to stay, he can appear to you soon after even though you clearly told it to wait there.
After rescuing Primm's deputy all Primm citizens may become hostile to ED-E.
After chatting to the commanding officer at Ranger Station Charlie, the officer may become hostile to ED-E(This seems to happen when approaching quest essential NCR NPC’s, and may be avoided by commanding ED-E to “wait” a safe distance away, though this still requires additional confirmation)
The Legion members inside Cottonwood HQ may become hostile to ED-E at random.
pc NCR troops at Camp McCarran may become hostile to ED-E at random. (This seems to happen when approaching quest essential NCR NPC’s, and may be avoided by commanding ED-E to “wait” a safe distance away, confirmed on PC)
Completing the quest "ED-E My Love" by giving him to the Brotherhood may result in ED-E no longer moving or shooting anybody. It will still fast travel with you and zone with you, but will stay where you spawn. Changing him from follow to stay, and then back to follow fixes this problem, but he still won't attack enemies. Also reported to happen if you side with the Followers of the Apocalypse at the end.To fix this try killing ED-E and resurrecting him again by using the console. On console click on ED-E and type kill,then exit the console, go back again on the console and click on ED-E and type resurrect. By doing this ED-E will follow you again and attack enemies.
Giving ED-E a suit of Brotherhood T-51b power armor to hold onto will result in the armor disappearing from ED-E's inventory with no way to retrieve it or he will drop it.
He drops it, as does every follower if you ask them to hold clothing that is associated with a specific faction (that can be used as a disguise).
When completing the quest ED-E My Love, you're given a chance to upgrade the robot either by giving him to the Brotherhood of Steel, or the Followers. To achieve this upgrade, the entity is swapped out with an entirely different base ID, without making the inventory persistent. The effect of which is "destroying" any items in ED-E's inventory. The items are actually not destroyed, but still stored in the old, non-upgraded ED-E's inventory.
To fix this issue on the PC, you can access the standard ED-E's inventory remotely using the console, then take your items from it:
Type prid 1732cf (NOTE: prid 1732D1 worked for me. Some people say prid 1732CF or prid 1732D0 works. It's a base 16 number (hexadecimal). So just take a few values up or down from there and see what works for you.)

ED-E's inventory will open and you will be able to take all items from it.
When trying to pass under the floor of BoS underground base in hidden valley, ED-E may get stuck in the low floor when trying to follow you.

Having ED-E wait anywhere until he returns to Primm may result in him becoming hostile to everyone, including your character. You may be able to retrieve your gear from him by pickpocketing.
ED-E will disappear if you enter the Lucky 38 Casino. But cannot recruit Rex as It appears ED-E is still following you. (This can be resolved by going back to the lucky 38 casino and ask him to follow you again.)
ps3 pcED-E will completely disappear and will not be at Primm or the Lucky 38. (360/PS3)
ps3Several staircases (with roofs/walkway covers) can cause ED-E to become immobile and/or phase through the bottom of the level (Confirmed PS3)
If ED-E is killed (knocked down in Casual mode) in the H&H Tool Company's short hallway containing the Steel I-Beam battering ram, ED-E might phase through the floor or ceiling, and become stuck. To fix this, do the following in the console:
prid 1732d0
moveto player
resurrect 1 (typing kill will crash the game)
disable
enable
ED-E should now be following you again, and working normally.
If you fix ED-E before saving Primm from the Powder Gangers, Johnson Nash will not give you the quest ED-E My Love even if you talk to Johnson Nash about ED-E. If you directly head to the Gibson Scrap Yard and talk to Old Lady Gipson the quest will automatically trigger.
If ED-E disappears after using the "Terminate Companion Protocol" take him to Primm and then initiate the sequence. He will then float into the shop in which you found him and remain there.
pcIf you give to ED-E inventory NCR armor than after that you get message "Your companion cannot wear clothing of this fraction". NCR clothing dissapear from ED-E inventory, so you lose that armor.
In Vault 22, when you set gas afire while companion is not inside secure computer room, it will be killed permanently (removed from game). You will have to play around with console to get him back.
Sometimes ED-E will get lost and eventually (after several in-game days) you will get a message that ED-E has returned to Primm. However, when you enter the Nash house, ED-E will be hostile towards you and the Nashes, and you will have to destroy it, failing the companion quest. If you are waiting in real-time in the house when you get the message, ED-E will spawn hostile and attack you. |
