What’s new for TDU2 Closed Beta v2
Improvements
Handling
The car handling has gone through a lot of iterations through development and the one which was in the Beta v1 was the result of a lot of feedback from both internal and external groups.
However, we have been listening to your feedback and in a lot of cases we agree with what you are saying. One of the side-effects of pulling in a lot of opinions from different quarters was that the game had moved closer towards arcade rather than simulation in order to address difficulty concerns that were coming from some of the less experienced players.
We have now made changes to the handling which increases the variance between the assisted and non-assisted handling settings along with global changes which move the handling more towards the simulation model. It is important to understand though that TDU2 is aimed at a broad spectrum of players and is intended not to fall into either the simulation or arcade camp but to strike a unique balance between the two, with players then having a certain level of flexibility to push the game more towards the arcade or simulation models, as their preferences dictate.
It is also worth mentioning that most of the cars that appear in the Closed Beta have been picked specifically because they are at the more accessible end of those that will be available in the final game, the experience of driving one of the many super-cars which appear in the final game is considerably more challenging than anything that appears in the Closed Beta.
There are now 3 settings for the handling:
Full Assistance: This mode uses various driving aids to give an easier driving experience.
Hypersport: This mode uses minimal driving aids and in the case of the older “classic” cars uses no driving aids at all, to give a more realistic and harder driving experience.
Sport: This mode is a balance between Full Assistance and Hypersport and is the default setting for the game.
Invite/Join
There is now a messaging system which informs you if you are unable to Join or Invite another player and why this is.
We have increased the frequency and accuracy of player locations updates for other players, which means that you will teleport to where they are, not where they were, which in turn means there should be less issues with missing the person you were trying to Join.
Finding opponents
The management of who is visible to you when in the game world has been improved, in particular it now favours other players of a comparable Global Level to you.
Car Dealers
There is now an indication on each car as to what level of customization is possible after purchase; stickers, paint, performance tuning.
Car selection
It is now possible to choose your car through a menu when entering a multiplayer challenge.
Notifications
We no longer inform you of every connection and disconnection of other players from the game, just those on your friends list.
New
Driving
There are now 2 cooperative game modes to play; Follow the Leader and Keep your Distance.
Follow the Leader
In this mode players have to work as a team to get the best time. A player is randomly nominated as the Leader, they are then the only one who can see the next checkpoint and the GPS route to get to it. Once the Leader passes through the checkpoint it becomes visible to the other players, who then have a limited time to pass through it (or fail the challenge). Once the last player is through the checkpoint, a new Leader is selected. This continues until all the checkpoints are passed and the challenge is completed. The goal is for the team to finish the course in the shortest possible time.
Tips:
Unless you are the leader there is no point racing off, you will only be able to pass the checkpoint once the Leader has passed through it and it becomes visible and active.
Keep as close to the Leader as you can, to be able to get through the checkpoint as fast as possible once it has become visible and active.
A successful team is one which can handle the switch to the new Leader at the front and the others following as fast as possible, once the last car is through the checkpoint.
Your team will only ever be as successful as your slowest driver, so pick your team mates wisely!
Keep your distance
In this mode players need to keep within a minimum and maximum distance of each other and travel as far as possible on the road. When all players are within the defined distances the team scores points as they travel along the road, when any of the players fall out of these distances then no points are scored. The goal for the team is to score as many points as possible.
Tips:
You either need to have lightning fast reactions or lots of communication to master this mode, the best teams have both.
As with Follow the Leader, there is no point racing off, it is about keeping in formation and doing the fastest coordinated time.
Practice, practice, practice!
Cops!
The online Chase Mode is now active. In this mode players, who are near to another online player who has caused too many infractions, have the options of taking on the role of the cops and pursuing them. The Chase Mode has its own progression, rewarding players for achievements as both a Cop (chasing) and an Outlaw (fleeing).
Customization
There are 2 new customization options:
You can change your avatars hair, eyebrows and beard in the Hairdresser.
Design a new face for your avatar in the Cosmetic Clinic. |
