      《指挥官：征服美洲》结合了交易和策略游戏的元素，需要玩家扮演一支欧洲军队的指挥官，前去征服新大陆。玩家要从欧洲7个不同的派系中选择，负责建立新的殖民地，并管理殖民地的资源、生产、军事以及各种能让他们发展成一个完整帝国的东西。玩家可以在RTS操作风格下控制船只，或者直接控制舰队与敌国和嗜血的海盗交战，这些都将会在高度细节化的战术层面上进行。
