Fabien from TDU2.fr confirms the beta hasn't started yet, but according to Nadal, it is VERY close (it is "burning", to use his words). This info was released on July 31st.
As I quoted before, the beta will be very limited at first :
Only a few people (one hundred) will be accepted for the first "round", then slowly it will be expanded. The reason is they want to test servers and multiplayer gaming without having an overcharge, etc.
The beta will include only ONE car and freeride mode, nothing else (at least when it starts..)
Fabien continues to say he got one beta key for himself and another for another person on the forums, confirms about the NDA thing and also about the fact that beta testers will have to write reports and other feedback, maybe on the facebook page of the game.
Finally, Fabien will have some exclusive media he will be sharing with the french community of TDU2.fr, so stay tuned for more. This media won't be from the beta, but it will be given to him by Eden exclusively, for which he has the right to publish.

   正如我刚才所说,第一次测试版本的测试对于广大玩家来说将是非常有限的:
第一轮参与选拔的测试玩家当中,大约只有100人左右能够荣幸的被官方认可为选定测试者,然后在之后的选拔当中再慢慢扩大测试者人数. 原因是他们只想测试服务器的性能以及运行状态，并配置合适的服务器性能,而不希望将来把更多的额外服务器资源作为一种浪费等等。

该测试版本将只包含一台车辆以及自由驾驶模式,其他的内容都没有添加到测试版本当中(起码在正式版发布之前不会添加更多的其他内容)。

   另一个关键的方面，关于测试版本保密协议的事情，并在对话中证实了这一事实，所有测试者测试结束后,都将必须写测试报告以及其他反馈，并有可能刊登于游戏的Facebook页面。

   最后,相关负责人还表示将有专门的宣传媒体与TDU2所属的法国公司(ATARI)合作,并在之后发布更多的资讯,敬请期待更多。虽然此媒体不能发布更多关于测试版本的相关报道,但该媒体已成为Eden(伊甸园)工作组完全授权的媒体宣传合作伙伴。

当然要写报告不是儿戏可见开发组很重视，不写报告开发商怎么知道需要改善那些问题呢

别的游戏怎么就没有他们这么事多！

对自己开发的游戏没有信心，就别放公测。他们现在是用“公测”的招牌打“封测”的棋。
